Overview
The KanBo Outlook Add-in makes it easy to transfer information from an email to KanBo. It gives you the ability to convert emails into KanBo cards. It is also possible to select an existing KanBo card and attach information from the email to it.
You can read more about the KanBo Outlook Add-in here.
Modifying the Entra App Registration
- Go to the App Registration of your KanBo and copy the Application (client) ID.
- Go to Expose an API, and select Add for Application ID URI.
- For the URI, enter: api://kanbo-url/app-id
- Replace kanbo-url with the URL of your KanBo and replace app-id with the app registration ID you’ve copied before.

- Select Save.
- Select Add a Scope.

- Fill in the fields:
- The scope name: access_as_user
- Select Admins and users as consenting people
- Display name: KanBo API Scope
- Description: Allows current user access for the app’s web APIs
- Make sure State is enabled
- After that, select Add scope.
- Select Add a client application.

- For client ID use ea5a67f6-b6f3-4338-b240-c655ddc3cc8e, as this is the ID of the Outlook App.
- Make sure you select the access_as_user scope below.
- Confirm with the Add application button.
Deploy the App on M365
To deploy the application on M365:
- Go to Integrated apps – Microsoft 365 admin center.
- Select Upload custom apps.
If you are updating your KanBo Outlook Add-in from an older version, find the "KanBo" built-in application, click it, and select "Update Add-in". Changes to the built-in application may take up to a day to complete after the update.
- Select the Office Add-in app type and provide a link to it. The link will be https://kanbo-url/plugins/outlook-app/manifest.xml.
- Select what scope of users you want to have access to the KanBo Outlook Add-in.
- Select Accept permissions. A new browser window will appear and you will have to log in with an administrative account of your tenant.

- Consent to the above permissions on behalf of your organization.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Removing this Outlook app will result in the revocation of admin consent for certain API permissions in your KanBo app registration. This action may cause unexpected disruptions in KanBo functionality, including loss of access to files and other essential features. Proceed with caution.
Granting Admin Consent
To grant the admin consent:
- Go back to the app registration of your KanBo and go to the API permissions section.
You may find that there are permissions that have not yet been granted to KanBo. This can happen when you update Outlook App from an old version to a new version.
In this case, select Grant admin consent for KanBo and follow the steps in the screenshots below to grant admin consent. If this is not the case, skip this part.

This completes the installation of the Outlook App plugin.
