Card Status Types
In this article:
Overview
Card statuses tell the current stage or condition of a card to help you with the categorization of your work. There are five available card status types to choose from. Each of them has a different icon and meaning.
Card status types:
Information – for cards that contain important information but are not executable.
Not Started – it points to tasks that are not currently performed.
In Progress – for cards that are already in progress of completing it.
Completed – a status indicating completion of a card.
Cancelled – for cards that have been stopped and cannot be completed.
The purpose of card statuses is to show the progress of card realization. Your workflow can consist of as many steps as needed to finally complete the task.
Example: Ideas status with Information type, No funds status with Cancelled type, To do status with Not Started type, three statuses: Doing, Ready for translation, and Ready to present with In Progress type, and Done status with Completed type.
As you can see, a status type can appear multiple times in a space, or not at all. You can create multiple statuses of the same type.
Work-related status types
Three basic card status types are closely related to the stages of work on the task. There are 3 work-related statuses:
Not Started
In Progress
Completed
Inside each card is a progress bar that shows the card’s workflow, with the current status highlighted.
Example: Card with the Ready for translation status with In Progress type. Statuses with the Cancelled and Information types are not displayed in the progress bar.
Cards that have statuses with work-related types are included in the work progress calculation.
Information status type
Information status type can be used for cards that only store information. Since it does not represent the progress of completing a card, the statuses of that type are not visualized in the progress bar.
Example: The Ideas status with the Information type is not displayed in the card progress bar.
Cards that have statuses with the Information type are not included in the work progress calculation.
Cancelled status type
The Cancelled status was created for tasks that were halted during execution. These cards may still contain important data, but we don’t want them to be included in the space’s statistics because we know they will never be completed.
Cards that have statuses with the Cancelled type are not included in the work progress calculation.
Changing the card status type
Only space owners can manage card status types.
To change the card status type:
- Open the space.
- On the space top bar, select
More. - In the SPACE INFO section, select
Card statuses. - Select the status, go to Type, and select the new type.
- Confirm the changes with the Save button.
You can also use card group settings to change the card status type.
