Overview

A global card blocker is a type of card blocker that can be generally available in every space. Their usage can be monitored from a higher level. If you decide to use a local blocker instead, only the space users will know about it.

There are two types of global card blockers:

  • Global – generally available at every space, use it for general issues
  • Predefined – available only when added to the space by space owners, use it for more specific issues

The point of these blockers is that you can monitor their usage in all spaces at once. Use counter tells you the number of cards blocked by the specific blocker. You can click on the counter to see all the cards that are using this blocker at the moment.

A predefined card blocker is a type of card blocker that is available globally, but only to space users when it has been added to the space by a space owner. See how to add a predefined card blocker to the space.

Creating global card blockers

You need the Global Settings role to create global card blockers.

  1. On the Sidebar, select your avatar, and then go to Settings > Blocker types.
  2. On the global or predefined card blocker field, select + Create.
  3. Enter the name and optionally description, and then select Create.

Add a description so that users have no doubt in which cases they should use the blocker.

Any global card blockers you create will be visible to all space users. Predefined blockers will only be visible in the space after they have been added by space owners.

Editing global card blockers

You need the Global Settings role to manage global card blockers.

To rename or change the description of a global card blocker:

  1. On the Sidebar, select your avatar, and then go to Settings > Blocker types.
  2. Select the card blocker, and then enter a new name or write a description.
  3. Confirm with the Save button.

Deleting global card blockers

You need the Global Settings role to manage global card blockers.

To delete a global card blocker:

  1. On the Sidebar, select your avatar, and then go to Settings > Blocker types.
  2. Hover over a specific card blocker, and then select More.
  3. Select Delete.
  4. Confirm that you are sure to delete a blocker.

Use card blockers. It allows you to block a card and informs you about the problem with the completion of the task. 

Only space owners can create local card blockers in spaces. They can also add predefined blockers to the space by selecting them from global card blockers.

A local blocker is created and used only within one space, while a global blocker is available at every space in KanBo.
