KanBo Error: 401 (On-Premises)

The 401 Unauthorized error may occur during a KanBo on-premises installation. Below are the most common causes of this error, as well as the configuration settings you should verify to restore proper authentication.

If you receive an error message like the one above in KanBo, please check the KanBo log file for more information.

Security        ERROR | User authentication postback failed (233a0d67-2dc2-412f-92ae-e6035da90522):
System.Net.WebException: The remote server returned an error: (401) Unauthorized.

If the KanBo log file shows a 401 error, check the issuer ID in your web.config file. It is most likely not correct.

  1. Open your certificate. 
  2. Select Details.
  3. Select Authority Key Identifier.
  4. Check the KeyID value.
  1. Additionally, please check the expiration date of your high-trust certificate. You can also do this directly in the certificate details.
