Overview
Lists are one of the custom field types that can help you organize your work. They are a perfect way to categorize your cards because each card can be assigned to only one list.
Lists can be used for card grouping. The list icon represents two cards grouped in one column.
Example: The Africa, Asia, Australia, and Europe lists are displayed as groupings.
Each card can be assigned to only one list.
Labels can be visible in three places:
- as a card grouping option (above)
- inside the card (card details section)
- as a card icon on the card front (below)
You can see all assigned custom fields in the card details section inside the card.
Example: The Australia list and the Biodiversity label are displayed inside the card as custom fields.
Set card grouping by list to see them organized this way.

Adding lists to cards
There are two ways to add a list to a card.
I. From the card level:
- Open the card.
- On the card details section, go to Custom fields, and then select Unassigned.
- Select the label.
II. From the space level:
- Open the space.
- Set card grouping by Lists option.
- Drag the card from the Unnasigned list and move it to the desired list.
You can change the list in the same way.
Use Bulk Actions to change the list of many cards at once.
Removing lists from cards
There are two ways to remove a list from a card.
I. From the card level:
- Open the card.
- On the card details section, go to Custom fields, and then select the assigned list.
- Select Unassigned list.
II. From the space level:
- Open the space.
- Set card grouping by Lists option.
- Drag the card from the current list and drop it on the Unnasigned list.
Use Bulk Actions to change the list of many cards at once (change to Unassigned).
Creating lists
Only space owners can create lists.
To create a list:
- Open the space.
- Go to Kanban view.
- Set card grouping by Lists option.
There will be only one list at first – Unassigned. Before you create new lists and move cards to them, all cards are waiting in Unassigned list.
- On the right next to the existing list, select the + button.
- Enter the name and select the color of the new list.
- Select Add to confirm.
Write a short description to provide more details about the list.
Editing lists
Only space owners can edit lists.
To change the list color:
- Open the space.
- Go to Kanban view, List view, or Table view.
- Set card grouping by Lists option.
- On the grouping list, select More (the three-dot menu).
- Select the new list color.
To rename a list:
- Open the space.
- Go to Kanban view, List view, or Table view.
- Set card grouping by Lists option.
- On the grouping list, select its name.
- Enter the new name, and then select Save.
Deleting lists
Only space owners can delete lists.
To delete a list:
- Open the space.
- Go to Kanban view, List view, or Table view.
- Set card grouping by Lists option.
- On the grouping list, select More (the three-dot menu).
- Select Delete list.

Yes, you can add list descriptions to your card lists.
