Applying Space Templates to Existing Spaces
Space is the new name for the board.
Welcome to the KanBo 3.0 release!
In this article:
Overview
Besides the option to create a space using the space template, you can also apply the space template to an existing space. In this case, new space elements, such as cards or custom fields, are added to existing space elements.
The current space components will not be removed.
Changes to the existing space after applying the space template may be additional:
- Cards (with their card elements and card details)
- Card statuses
- Custom fields
- Space views
- Card blockers
- Card templates
- Space documents structure (optional)
Existing elements will not disappear or be undermined. Cards currently in the space will remain, as will card statuses, space users, or space views. This may result in card statuses that are similar in function. We recommend manually adjusting the number of card statuses and moving cards using bulk actions.
If you select to apply or reapply the space template document structure to the existing space:
- Files that were never present in the existing space will be copied
- Files that were present and removed from the existing space will be copied
- Files that were already present in the existing space (even if they were modified) will not be copied
- Files will not be attached to already existing cards (existing cards will not be modified after applying space templates)
Applying space templates to existing spaces
Only space owners can apply space templates to the space.
To apply a space template to the existing space:
- Open the space.
- On the space top bar, select More (the three-dots menu) and then select
Apply template. - Select the space template.
- Set the start and the end date for the space (optional).
- Select if you need to apply the document structure from the space template.
- Confirm with the Apply button.
