Creating Boards
KanBo Board is a product, project, resource, or organizational structure that is under continuous development. Boards can represent anything and have a variety of uses.
You must have an Adding Boards role to create new boards.
Create a new board
To create a board in a KanBo:
- Go to KanBo menu.

- Select
Boards button.
- Press + Add board.
- Choose the board template (optional).
- Enter the name.
You can select background color of your board or leave the default one. There is also an option to set board dates.

In the cloud world, when you create a new board, you can choose to create a new Office 365 group or not. In case creating groups is disabled in your tenant, users won't be able to create a new office 365 group. They will be able to attach only existing groups to the board.
Skip to the last paragraph if you are using an on-premise environment.
If you want to create a group with a name different than the board’s name, enable custom name option and enter the name.
- Press Add button.
Create a new board using template
You can create new boards directly from the board template.

In order to create the board based on the board template:
- Open KanBo navigation pane.
- Select
Boards.
- Select Board templates.
- Press more (three dots) on selected board’s tile.
- Select
Create board.
- Follow the steps from the previous instruction (from 5. step).
On-Premise enviroments
In the on-premise world, once you create a board, a new SP site gets created within KanBo Site Collection. KanBo created there a document library for the board and adds 3 security groups that match KanBo permissions - Owner, Member, Visitor.
Enter a board’s name and select a color. Click Add to create a board. You can also create a board ouf the template.

Once you are adding a new board with a name which is similar to other boards’ names, you will be shown with a Suggested Boards pop-up.
The communicate will inform you that you are creating a board with a similar name. Suggested boards’ colors will be indicated in the pop-up. You can open a suggested board and it will be opened in a new tab of a browser.
Click Continue to create a new board despite the communicate.

Can I create a board based on existing board?
Yes, you can create a board using board template or just duplicate existing board.
Can every user create a new board?
Only users with Adding Boards role can create boards.
Can anyone delete a board?
Only board owners can delete boards.
Can I select the color of the board?
Yes, you can set a board background color. It will be visible inside a board and on a board tile.
